Hi! Welcome home.
My name is Pharo Hutsteiner. I am a Data Analyst with experience in using Excel, Google Sheets, SQL and Tableau to extract actionable insights from real-world data. I complement this regularly with my programming experience in languages such as C, Python, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

My professional journey into the world of analytics has been an unconventional one. I studied History and Politics at the University of Warwick, graduating in 2023 with a high 2.1 degree. My pivot towards tech was spurred on by unexpectedly discovering Harvard University's introductory course on Computer Science: CS50x. I quickly became obsessed with my newfound ability to build things - from low-level programmes to web applications (see on Github how I built this space)!
My approach to data analysis is very much informed by this same desire to create something real and tangible - in this case: insights for positive social change. I undertook 16 weeks of training at The Curious Academy (Reading), supplemented with self-paced learning via DataCamp, which culminated in a final project focussing on the current Car Driving Test shortage in Great Britain. I am fortunate to operate in an industry where I feel continually challenged to learn new things every day. Browse through the pages on this site for a comprehensive snapshot of what I'm up to: from articles on exploratory data analysis to coding projects.

Other Interests

I have (apparently) been drawing since I was 3 years old. My passion for art has stuck with me throughout my entire life, from an infatuation with manga as a teenager to oil paintings and political cartoons during my A Levels. I am still scribbling away to this day..

Music has allowed me to meet and connect with people in a way unlike any other hobby I have ever taken up. I started playing electric guitar at age 12, and by 18 I had played Funk & Soul in school concerts, joined a progressive-rock band, and recorded an EP at Whitehouse Studios in Reading.

I am a big proponent of vintage fashion for its sustainability, and - in my view - superior design and quality to modern-day clothing. Years of digging through vintage shops, markets and fairs has allowed me to build a collection of 'antique' pieces. Whether it's a 1940s Burberrys balmacaan, or an early 70s Ralph Lauren hacking jacket, I am probably hunting it down..
