Other Interests

Art:

I have been drawing and painting for a long, long time. Although I was initially most passionate about graphic art such as Manga, my studies at school challenged me to broaden my expertise through practice with other mediums - such as oil and acrylic painting, as well as clay sculpture. These days I just sketch for fun, but see below for some examples of my work, including: political cartoons (Tory Government, 2019), realistic pencil drawings, and a rendition of Disreali Gears (Cream) in coloured ink and pencil.

Music:

After being introduced to Guitar Hero at a young age, I became convinced enough to try the real thing. And very quickly, I became obsessed with mastering the guitar and discovering new music. During my time at school I played in Funk & Soul and Progressive Rock bands, performed at concerts, and eventually recorded an EP at Whitehouse Studios (Reading). Whether it's jazz, trip-hop, or the blues, I have and continue to listen to pretty much every genre..

Vintage Collector:

It is no secret that vintage, and second-hand fashion more generally, has come up in a big way in recent years. Perhaps my biggest hobby these days, I have a keen interest in collecting true vintage clothing and memorabilia - although by now I have been digging for a decade! The results of which have been an extended collection of workwear, sportswear, militaria, and tailoring that spans from the beginning to the end of the 20th century. Some of my favourite pieces include a 1940s Burberrys balmacaan made from hand-woven Irish tweed, and a 1990s RRL blanket-lined Type-1 denim jacket (seen below). I sell regularly on eBay and Depop.
